Description
What a Schramm
Schramms Cottage dates from approximately 1875. Built of local sandstone with a hip slate roof. It was built for Max von Schramm, a German immigrant, for use as a house and a Lutheran school.
In 1876 von Schramm was appointed the first Lutheran Pastor in Doncaster and he continued to teach at this school until 1884.
The cottage was originally located in Doncaster Road, near the present Council offices and was moved to its current site following a decision to widen Doncaster Road. The process of dismantling and re-erecting the building took place between 1971 and 1975, using largely voluntary labour. Schramms Cottage was opened as a historical centre on
The cottage is open 2pm to 5pm Sunday and Public Holidays except Christmas day and Good Friday. There is an entry fee to see the cottege itself.

Surprising number of ppl lurking around this isolated bit of real estate. Managed to find a small gap to go and find the cache and return... Haven't explored this place, but I shall return with the kidlets to do so!

Unfortunately, the cache is fairly damp and at this time of the day leaving it in the sun didn't make a great deal of difference. Also, don't make the mistake like I did of trying to use the pen in the cache when your own runs out. It obviously hadn't been used for a while so, when I gave it the extra push it needed, it decided to spurt a quantity of rusty water out all over me. Thankfully, this was the last for the day and I was heading for home!
Thanks to the Solomons for finally getting me to come into here. TNLNSL TFTC

Took soccer golf ball. Left yo-yo.
Thanks for a bringing us to spot close to home we didn't know about before. It's always a fun to discover someplace new.

A rare GCA cache find. Not too many of these around. It was a simple matter of standing back and watching Mrs Mini come up with goods as Mr Mini and I had spotted the location as we approached. We felt Mrs Mini was in the zone, so we let her do the hard work.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for this GCA cache Solomonfamily. It was handy that I was over visiting the BIL and SIL otherwise this would have been quite a bit longer in beoing found my me. Not my usual stomping ground.

Should have picked up plenty of memories through the aether from nearby historic Schramm's Cottage; that's how these things work isn't it? Anyway, time to move on.
We made an easy find here but when I picked the cache up I thought "That's pretty heavy. Either it's full of Solomon's gold or the box is half full of water". After pouring out the water I signed the log book (still dry) while the daughter played with the swag.
TN. Left Swaggie ; Memories are made of this.
It's a pity that we didn't swing by later in the day. The cottage wasn't open yet and we would have loved to have a look inside. I'm sure we'll be back one day.
Cheers solomonfamily, another great location in a nice little park.

Well, I had a number of reasons to visit this spot this morning, but had only limited success. First off, I wanted to find the cache and that presented no problems - and this was my 6th day in a row with a cache find - so I broke my old record (some record!) which has stood since 2005. Then, I wanted to place a movable GCA cache that I'd picked up yesterday as it seemed like a good idea to have 2 GCA caches together and it'd get picked up sooner (and I wouldn't have to bother taking co-ords

We saw this bob up this morning, but we had other things to attend to in the morning, so when we got back home, geoson and I promptly shot out the door. We have been to the adjacent park many times, but only here once or twice to see if the cottage was open. Unfortunately it wasn't today either, but the FTF made up for it.
We were also excited to find an FTF prize, the first time we have found such an item, and even more excited when the scratchy yielded two $6 prizes which the geokids will add to their money boxes.
Thanks solomonfamily - Great place - and that FTF prize was a real thrill.
PS We also collected the movable, so two for the price of one!
